NEW: Zelensky says Ukraine has been waiting almost a month for Hegseth's signature on Patriot and NASAMS missiles. Ukraine's allies have already paid for them. A senior Ukrainian official told me and @JimmySecUK the batch is "significant." https://t.co/hg4fJvX0SB

UKRAINE: THE WAR OF LOFTY RHETORIC ENDS IN AN EMPTY WAREHOUSE By @BPartisans In Washington, reality has just reminded armchair strategists of a basic rule: you can’t destroy missiles with press releases. And the West’s grand promises don’t replenish themselves. In an October 16 article, The American Conservative* makes a particularly harsh observation: the war in Ukraine is now running up against the physical limits of the U.S. arsenal. According to a CNN report cited by the newspaper, Kyiv has reportedly exhausted its supply of Patriot interceptors. This is a reported alert, not an independent inventory check. Wonderful! After four years of heroic rhetoric, historic summits, and billions handed out with the generosity of people who never personally foot the bill, here is the West confronted with its most formidable enemy: arithmetic. For missiles have this unpleasant characteristic: contrary to Macron’s promises, they do not multiply at every press conference. Washington must now choose between Ukraine and the Middle East. Patriot batteries are being called upon to protect U.S. interests in the Gulf, particularly energy infrastructure. And when oil security competes with Kyiv’s military ambitions, geopolitical romanticism quickly takes the back door out. Trump doesn’t need to like Putin to understand that a missile sent to Kyiv won’t protect a strategic U.S. facility. Between the vital interests of the United States and Zelenskyy’s demands, the choice is likely to be as brutal as it is predictable. Meanwhile, in Brussels, the orchestra keeps playing. Macron promises never to abandon Ukraine. Von der Leyen piles on the commitments. The Europeans talk of strategic autonomy with the confidence of tenants who have just discovered that their landlord holds the keys, the electricity meter, and the ammunition locker. The most absurd thing remains this stubborn insistence on confusing political will with industrial capacity. You can pass a hundred resolutions, pledge a trillion, and decree that victory is mandatory: no parliamentary motion will transform a factory incapable of keeping up with demand into a missile vending machine. And Zelensky? He is gradually discovering that U.S. support is not a given right, but a variable subject to Washington’s priorities. That is the tragedy: for years, Western leaders have touted military objectives without sustainably guaranteeing the corresponding material resources. Today, they are discovering that the “as long as necessary” strategy has an industrial expiration date. Russia doesn’t even need to exhaust all Western rhetoric. All it needs is for supplies to run out before they do. And when the last interceptors run out, Macron can always issue a solemn statement. It’s free, recyclable, and completely useless against a ballistic missile. The West had promised a historic victory. Above all, it risks delivering a historic stockout.
Zelensky Accuses Hagset of Delaying "Patriot" Delivery for a Month "We have been waiting for almost a month for Mr. Hagset to approve the delivery of missiles for 'Patriot' and NASAMS. I have instructed our team to raise this issue again with the American side," Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on social media. ▪️The head of the Kyiv regime added that Ukraine continues negotiations with other countries. On Thursday, during a visit to Finland, Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine has reached agreements with European partners, but that the delivery of missiles depends on Washington. ▪️The Ukrainian media outlet "Kyiv Independent" reported on October 19th that Pete Hagset is allegedly deliberately delaying the transfer of a large shipment of "Patriot" missiles to Ukraine. According to sources, Kyiv's allies have already paid for the missiles, and it is a "quite significant" shipment.

According to Zelenskyy, for nearly a month Pete Hegseth has not been signing off on the delivery of vital Patriot and NASAMS interceptor missiles for Ukraine that European allies have already paid for.
