FORTRESS America: President Trump’s New Homeland Defense Initiative A national defense initiative launched under President Donald Trump’s administration by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth on September 30, 2026. This is much more specific than the historical Fortress America philosophy. Its official name is: F.O.R.T.R.E.S.S. — Federal Operations for Resilience, Troop Resources, Energy, Supply, and Survivability. The objective is to make America’s military infrastructure capable of surviving major attacks, prolonged emergencies, cyberwarfare, and disruptions to critical supplies. The Five Major Components 1. Military Bases That Can Survive Without the Power Grid The Pentagon wants major American military installations to generate independent electricity. The administration is reportedly working toward a standard under which installations could operate for at least 90 days without external power, fuel, or water supplies. That means military operations could continue even if America’s civilian infrastructure were attacked. 2. Bringing Critical Military Manufacturing Back to America The initiative aims to reduce foreign dependence on essential defense materials, including rare earth minerals, semiconductors, specialty metals, and propellants. The goal is to strengthen American manufacturing and prevent foreign supply disruptions from compromising national defense. 3. Creating Strategic Wartime Reserves FORTRESS America calls for larger reserves of ammunition, fuel, medicine, blood, and other essential supplies. These reserves are intended to sustain military operations when international supply chains become unavailable. 4. Protecting Military Installations Against Modern Warfare The Pentagon plans to strengthen defenses against cyberattacks, sabotage, and drone incursions. This includes protecting command centers, military communications, and other critical infrastructure. 5. Securing America’s Space and Communications Capabilities The initiative includes strengthening satellite communications, navigation systems, and electromagnetic defenses. These capabilities are essential to modern military operations. How Does This Connect to Trump’s Larger Defense Strategy? FORTRESS America complements other administration priorities, including the Golden Dome missile-defense initiative and a renewed focus on homeland and Western Hemisphere security. An important distinction is that FORTRESS America is not designed to withdraw America from the world. Its purpose is to ensure that the United States can continue military operations even when domestic infrastructure or international supply chains are disrupted. Where Does the Initiative Stand Today? As of October 27, 2026, the initiative is in its early implementation phase. On October 7, the Pentagon began establishing a dedicated FORTRESS America Program Office to coordinate implementation. The ambitious infrastructure and supply-chain goals have been announced, but they have not yet been fully achieved. Costs, construction schedules, and the feasibility of some requirements remain important questions. Why This Matters The central national security concern is straightforward: America possesses an extraordinarily powerful military, but its effectiveness can still depend on vulnerable electrical grids, overseas manufacturing, satellite networks, and global supply chains. FORTRESS America is intended to reduce those vulnerabilities. Secretary Hegseth summarized the initiative’s purpose this way: “We will make certain that America cannot be starved out, shut down, or cut off.” My assessment: The most significant aspect of FORTRESS America is its emphasis on military readiness during prolonged disruptions, rather than relying exclusively on military firepower. Its success will depend on whether the Pentagon can deliver the necessary infrastructure, manufacturing capacity, and reserves. November 3rd Matters… … get out and VOTE RED! ‘’

The Pentagon’s FORTRESS plan is getting real attention right now. Fox reported (citing internal docs) that major CONUS bases are being told to sustain essential ops for at least 90 days without civilian power, water, fuel, or supply chains—using microgrids, batteries, portable nukes, and stockpiles. Hegseth announced the broader push in late September so bases can stay lit even if the grid gets hit by cyber or sabotage. “Power is combat now,” their spokesperson said. Snopes calls the core claim mostly true, though the exact 90-day number is still from the reporting rather than a fully public directive. That’s contingency planning for a bad wartime scenario, not a prediction the lights are going out tomorrow. Still, if the military doesn’t want to bet the mission on the same civilian infrastructure the rest of us use, it’s a reasonable reminder for households. What normal people can actually do (without going full bunker): •Water first: at least 1 gallon per person per day. CDC/Ready.gov baseline is a few days; aim for 2 weeks if you can. Fill tubs early if pressure is still on. •Food you already eat that doesn’t need a fridge or stove—rotate it so it doesn’t go to waste. •Battery or hand-crank radio, flashlights, extra batteries, basic first aid, and a way to charge phones. •Cash on hand, copies of important docs, and a simple family meeting point/out-of-area contact. •Generator only if you do it safely (transfer switch, never backfeed, CO detectors). Solar + battery if it fits your budget and location. Start with the cheap, high-impact stuff this week. You don’t need 90 days of everything; you need enough buffer that a multi-day outage isn’t a crisis. Are you already set for a couple weeks, or is this the push to finally put the basics together? Drop what you’re prioritizing. #FORTRESS #GridDown #Preparedness #Prepper #Pentagon #PowerIsCombatNow #ReadyGov #EmergencyPrep #OffGrid #Hegseth

Pentagon preparing for "major war" - Fox News Major military bases in the continental US will be expected to sustain essential operations for at least 90 days without external support under a new Pentagon strategy, Fox News has reported. The autonomy target was set out in FORTRESS documents reviewed by the network, it said on Sunday. Critical military supplies would also require at least two qualified supply or production routes to guard against disruption. War Secretary Pete Hegseth announced the initiative last month. The US military has faced serious logistical disruption in the Middle East following Iranian strikes on American facilities and other sites used by US forces in retaliation for the US Israeli attack on Iran... Oceania must always be at war with Eurasia or Eastasia. Doesn't matter which one, as long as there's war. American majority
